The 3M 7010299102 is an aluminum oxide cloth-backed abrasive belt designed for general-purpose material removal across metal and wood substrates. Running at 120 grit, this belt handles deburring, surface conditioning, and finishing work on mild steel, carbon steel, aluminum, bronze, and brass. The XF-weight polyester cloth backing resists tearing under heavy sanding and grinding pressure, and the resin bond system holds up against the heat generated during aggressive stock removal. It is sized at 18 inches long by 1/2 inch wide, making it suited for benchtop and backstand belt sanders as well as portable belt grinders used in fabrication and maintenance environments.
This belt is intended for metalworking and light woodworking applications in industrial, fabrication shop, and maintenance settings. Typical uses include deburring cut edges, blending weld seams, and general surface prep on ferrous and non-ferrous metals. The waterproof polyester backing allows use in both wet and dry grinding or sanding operations, adding versatility for shops that run coolant or water during metalworking processes. Licensed machinists, fabricators, maintenance technicians, and metalworking tradespeople are the primary installers and users of this consumable.
Designed for use on backstand and benchtop belt sanders, stroke sanders, portable belt grinders, and wide belt grinding and finishing machines accepting an 18 inch by 1/2 inch belt.
Abrasive belts should be installed by a qualified operator familiar with the sanding or grinding equipment in use. Always power down and lock out the machine before changing belts. Verify belt tracking and tension according to the equipment manufacturer guidelines before resuming operation. Inspect the belt for tears or separation before each use and replace immediately if damage is found.
