The 3M 7000144691 is a 5.0 mil adhesive transfer tape built around a 300 high strength acrylic adhesive carried on a 3.5 mil, 60 lb densified kraft paper liner. The tape measures 0.5 inches wide and runs 60 yards per roll. It delivers high initial adhesion and aggressive tack, making it suited for bonding both high surface energy (HSE) and low surface energy (LSE) substrates. HVAC fabricators, sign makers, industrial assemblers, and skilled tradespeople who need a thin, clean, permanent bond use this tape in applications where a liquid adhesive or mechanical fastener is impractical.
This transfer tape is designed for general-purpose bonding across a wide variety of similar and dissimilar materials. Common applications include splicing films, foils, and fabrics, as well as laminating foams, photos, fabrics, and metal or plastic nameplates. Because the adhesive layer is transparent and thin at 5.0 mil, it works well in situations where visual appearance or tight dimensional tolerances matter. It is a thicker-adhesive alternative to the 3M 927 tape and fits scenarios where a more aggressive bond is required.
Designed for bonding a wide variety of similar and dissimilar materials including films, foils, fabrics, foams, photos, and metal or plastic nameplates where a high-tack, thin adhesive transfer is required.
Surface preparation is critical before applying any pressure-sensitive adhesive transfer tape — clean and dry the substrate thoroughly to remove oils, dust, and contaminants. Apply firm, even pressure across the entire bond area immediately after positioning to maximize adhesive contact. Remove the liner carefully at a low angle to avoid stretching or tearing the adhesive layer. Once the adhesive contacts the substrate, reposition is not possible without compromising bond integrity.
