The 3M 7000132418 is a medium-wall, heat-shrinkable cable sleeve designed to protect wire bundles and cable terminations from mechanical damage, moisture, corrosion, and chemical exposure. Constructed from cross-linked polyolefin with a factory-applied thermoplastic adhesive/sealant inner layer, this sleeve bonds directly to underlying surfaces during heat application and fills small voids to create a reliable environmental seal. At 48 inches in length, it is flame-retardant and split-resistant, making it appropriate for demanding electrical installations where long-term durability and flexibility are required. Licensed electricians and cable technicians are the primary installers of this product type.
This sleeve is suited for residential and commercial electrical applications where cables and wire harnesses require protection against abrasion, moisture ingress, and chemical exposure. The medium-wall construction offers greater flexibility compared to heavy-wall alternatives, making it a practical choice for installations where routing around bends or through tight paths is necessary. Each sleeve ships in an unprinted finish and is sold in cases of 20 units. The adhesive/sealant layer remains flexible over extended periods under adverse environmental conditions, maintaining seal integrity without cracking or delaminating.
Designed as a medium-wall heat-shrink cable sleeve for general wire and cable protection applications. Select the size equivalent to the expanded inside diameter required for the cable or bundle being covered.
Installation should be performed by a qualified electrician or cable technician following applicable NEC guidelines. De-energize all circuits completely before sliding the sleeve over cable terminations or wire bundles. Apply uniform heat along the sleeve using an appropriate heat gun, working from the center outward to allow the adhesive/sealant to flow and bond evenly. Avoid open-flame heat sources, which can scorch the material and compromise the seal.
