The 3M 7000123307 is a transparent polyester protective tape designed for temporary surface protection on polished metals and plastics. It uses a very low tack adhesive system engineered to minimize adhesion build-up over time, allowing clean removal without leaving residue behind. Target adhesion is greater than 18 grams per inch. The tape ships as a 4-inch wide by 144-yard roll, giving tradespeople and fabricators a substantial length for covering larger surface areas during transit, handling, or finishing operations. Licensed contractors and shop technicians working with finished metal panels, polished trim, and plastic components rely on this type of tape to keep surfaces intact through fabrication and installation phases.
This tape is suited for use in manufacturing, metal fabrication, HVAC sheet metal work, and construction environments where polished or decorative surfaces need temporary protection. It performs on flat and slightly contoured surfaces and is appropriate for both indoor staging and light-duty production line applications. The polyester film backing provides dimensional stability, resisting tearing and stretching during application and removal. This tape is not intended as a permanent bonding solution and should not be used as a structural or high-temperature adhesive tape.
Designed for temporary surface protection of polished metal and plastic substrates in fabrication, construction, and trade installation applications.
Application and removal should be performed by a qualified technician familiar with surface protection tapes. Ensure the target surface is clean and dry before applying the tape to achieve consistent adhesion. Remove the tape promptly after the protection period ends to reduce the risk of adhesion build-up, particularly in warm or humid environments. Do not use this tape as a structural adhesive or expose it to elevated temperatures beyond its intended service range.
