The 3M 7000120822 is a Scotch-Brite Surface Conditioning Disc built for cleaning, blending, deburring, and surface finishing across a range of materials. The disc uses a non-woven fiber construction bonded with aluminum oxide abrasive at a medium grade. The open-web design dissipates heat during operation, which helps prevent loading and extends the working life of the disc. At 2 inches in diameter, it mounts to right-angle tools via a hook-and-loop attachment system, allowing fast changeover between disc grades without tools. This disc is well suited for multi-step finishing workflows where consistent, controllable material removal is required.
This disc is used in light industrial, fabrication, and maintenance applications where surface prep work must avoid undercutting or damaging the base material. The conformable non-woven construction follows irregular or contoured surfaces, making it appropriate for weld blending, edge conditioning, and pre-finishing on metal, composite, plastic, and similar substrates. It fits naturally into sequential finishing processes where operators step through multiple abrasive grades. Typical users include sheet metal fabricators, maintenance technicians, and production finishing crews working with hand-held right-angle grinders or finishing tools.
Designed for use with right-angle finishing tools equipped with a 2-inch hook-and-loop backing pad. Suitable for use on metal, composite, plastic, and other hard surfaces requiring surface conditioning.
Installation and disc changes should be performed with the power tool unplugged or the air supply disconnected. Confirm the backing pad is rated for the tool RPM before mounting. Inspect the disc for damage before each use and do not use a disc that shows tears or separation in the non-woven material. Follow applicable workplace safety and PPE requirements when operating abrasive tools.
