The 3M 7000120610 Scotch-Brite Surface Conditioning Belt is a nonwoven abrasive belt designed for surface finishing work on metal substrates. Built on a reinforced scrim backing with an open nonwoven web construction, this belt uses aluminum oxide abrasive bonded with resin to deliver consistent results across a wide range of finishing operations. At 60 inches long and 2 inches wide, it fits standard belt-drive finishing machines used in fabrication and metalworking shops. Metalworkers and fabricators rely on this belt for blending, deburring, contour finishing, and straightline-brushed surface work where controlled material removal and surface consistency are required.
This belt is suited for detail and production finishing on a variety of metals including stainless steel, carbon steel, and aluminum. Typical applications include blending weld seams, cleaning oxidized surfaces, setting grain direction, removing grind lines and mill marks, deburring cut edges, and achieving fine or flat finishes. The open web construction reduces loading and heat buildup, making it effective for extended runs on automated and robotic finishing systems as well as handheld belt grinders. It handles both flat surfaces and complex contoured parts with consistent abrasive contact.
Designed for use on standard 2-inch wide belt finishing machines and grinders that accept 60-inch length belts. Suitable for finishing operations on stainless steel, carbon steel, aluminum, and other metal surfaces.
This belt is installed and operated by metalworkers, fabricators, and finishing technicians using belt grinders or automated finishing equipment. Ensure the machine is powered off and de-energized before changing belts. Verify belt tracking and tension according to the equipment manufacturer guidelines before operating. Always wear appropriate PPE including eye protection and gloves when operating abrasive belts.
