The 3M 7000119796 is a Hookita Red abrasive sheet designed for sanding and surface preparation tasks. Running a hook-and-loop attachment system, this sheet mounts and releases quickly from compatible hook-and-loop backup pads, reducing downtime during grit changes. At a P80 grit rating, it delivers aggressive material removal suitable for leveling surfaces, removing old coatings, or prepping bare substrates before finer finishing passes. Each sheet measures 2-3/4 inches wide by 16-1/2 inches long and is sold in cartons of 25 sheets. This product is used by finishing contractors, auto body technicians, and woodworking professionals who need a consistent, fast-cutting abrasive in a long-board or hand-block format.
This abrasive sheet is suited for flat and low-contour surface preparation on wood, metal, primer, and body filler. The long-board sheet format works with pneumatic and electric long-file sanders common in auto body shops and cabinet finishing operations. The P80 grit makes it appropriate as an early-stage cut before stepping up to finer grits. It is used in both production shop environments and job-site finishing work where throughput and consistent scratch patterns matter.
Designed for use with hook-and-loop long-board and hand-block backup pads that accept 2-3/4 inch by 16-1/2 inch abrasive sheets.
Align the sheet squarely on the hook-and-loop backup pad before applying pressure to seat the attachment evenly across the full surface. Inspect the pad face for worn or clogged hooks before mounting a new sheet, as degraded hooks reduce sheet retention and sanding consistency. Wear appropriate respiratory protection and eye protection when dry-sanding, per applicable safety standards. Dispose of used abrasive sheets according to local regulations when they contain hazardous dust from lead paint or similar materials.
