The 3M 7000118850 is an aluminum oxide cloth abrasive belt designed for metal deburring, general metalworking, and woodworking applications. Rated at P100 grit, it delivers a fast cut while producing a consistent finish on metal and wood substrates. The belt measures 24 inches in length and 3 inches in width, making it compatible with wide belt, edge, and portable belt sanding equipment. The X-weight cloth backing handles heavy sanding and grinding loads without tearing. A resin bond system keeps the abrasive grain locked under high heat and pressure conditions typical in production metalworking environments. Licensed technicians and metalworking professionals are the primary installers and users of this consumable product.
This belt is suited for both residential shop and light industrial environments where metal deburring and surface conditioning are routine tasks. The tube-shaped band profile fits inner and outer contours, making it effective for removing parting lines, casting imperfections, and burrs from metal parts. It is also appropriate for wood sanding applications where a durable, aggressive cut is needed. When fitted onto a rubber expander wheel attachment used with a die grinder or rotary drill, it extends reach into tight contours and recessed areas. The rubber expander wheel attachment is sold separately.
Designed for use with wide belt sanders, edge sanders, and portable belt sanders accepting a 24-inch by 3-inch abrasive belt. Also compatible with rubber expander wheel attachments for die grinders and rotary drills when configured for belt-style abrasives.
Loading and replacing abrasive belts should be performed with the sanding machine or grinder fully powered down and unplugged. Verify belt tracking alignment before resuming operation to prevent premature wear or belt failure. When using with a rubber expander wheel on a die grinder or rotary drill, confirm the attachment is rated for the intended RPM before use. Follow shop safety practices including eye protection and dust control appropriate to the substrate being worked.
