The 3M 7000118659 is a Trizact 237AA coated abrasive belt designed for intermediate finishing and fine polishing applications in industrial and trade environments. It uses 3M microreplication technology, where micron-graded aluminum oxide abrasive mineral is formed into precise three-dimensional pyramids and bonded to an X-weight cloth backing. As each pyramid wears during use, fresh, sharp mineral is continuously exposed. This self-renewing cutting action delivers a consistent cut rate and predictable surface finish throughout the life of the belt. The belt measures 48 inches in length and 2 inches in width and is gray in color. It is installed and used by machinists, metal fabricators, and finishing technicians on belt grinding and polishing equipment.
This belt is suited for robotic and automated finishing lines as well as manual belt grinder setups. It performs well on metal workpieces requiring a fine, uniform surface finish prior to plating, buffing, or coating operations. The flexible cloth backing conforms to contoured surfaces, making it a practical choice for parts with complex geometry. It produces finer finishes than conventional electrostatically coated abrasive belts of comparable grit designation.
Designed for use on belt grinders and polishing machines that accept 48-inch by 2-inch abrasive belts. Suitable for metal finishing applications requiring fine surface preparation prior to plating, buffing, or coating.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or finishing technician familiar with belt grinding equipment. Ensure the machine is fully powered down and the drive wheel is at rest before changing the belt. Verify belt tracking and tension per the equipment manufacturer's guidelines before resuming operation. Always wear appropriate personal protective equipment, including eye protection and gloves, when handling and installing abrasive belts.
