The 3M 7000118499 is a utility cloth roll in the 314D series, built for general-purpose material removal and surface preparation across a wide range of trade and industrial applications. The abrasive mineral is aluminum oxide, bonded to a J-weight cloth backing that provides flexibility without sacrificing durability. At P320 grit, this roll is suited for fine finishing passes, paint scuffing, and light stock removal. The 1-inch width by 20-yard length makes it easy to cut strips or use as-is on curved surfaces, contours, and tight areas where sheet goods are impractical. It is sold in a minimum quantity of 5 rolls per order.
This roll is commonly used in HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical trades for deburring pipe ends, cleaning metal surfaces before soldering or brazing, scuffing painted components, and preparing substrates for adhesive bonding. The narrow 1-inch width is well suited for working in confined spaces around fittings, conduit, tubing, and mechanical assemblies. Fabricators, pipefitters, and general maintenance technicians will find the J-weight backing cooperative on irregular profiles and radius surfaces where a stiffer backing would bridge gaps or tear.
Designed as a general-purpose abrasive cloth roll suitable for use on metal, wood, and painted surfaces in maintenance, fabrication, and trade service applications.
This abrasive roll is a consumable hand-tool supply; no power-down or system isolation is required for storage or handling. When used near live electrical panels, open gas lines, or pressurized plumbing, follow all applicable OSHA, NEC, IFGC, and IPC safety requirements before beginning surface work. Wear appropriate eye protection and gloves when cutting or tearing the roll to length. Dispose of used abrasive material in accordance with local regulations if contaminants such as lead paint or pipe dope are present on the work surface.
