The 3M 7000088502 is a medium brown, general-purpose flatback tape designed for splicing liner boards, bundling, holding, and light packaging work. Sold as Flatback Tape 2517, this roll measures 48mm wide by 55 meters long and carries a 6.5 mil total thickness. The paper backing delivers solid tensile strength at 35 lbs. per inch of width, and the adhesive bonds reliably to steel at 78 oz. per inch of width. It handles moist conditions without losing tack and is compatible with machine dispensing, making it practical for production-line and shop environments alike.
Flatback Tape 2517 fits general industrial and packaging applications where a conformable, moisture-resistant paper tape is needed. Typical uses include splicing corrugated and liner board during manufacturing, bundling components for shipping or storage, and securing assemblies during fabrication. The tape is rated for continuous use up to 300 degrees F, giving it utility in environments with elevated ambient temperatures. It meets certification requirements under ASTM-D6123/D6123M97 when required by the application. This tape replaces the obsolete PPP-T-42C Type 1 and CID-A-A-883A specifications.
Certified to ASTM-D6123/D6123M97 when required. Replaces obsolete specifications PPP-T-42C Type 1 and CID-A-A-883A.
Apply to clean, dry surfaces for best adhesion. In machine-dispensing setups, verify core size compatibility with the dispenser before loading. When splicing board stock, ensure even tension across the tape width to prevent edge lifting. Elongation at break is 2 percent, so avoid stretching the tape during application.
