The 3M 7000059422 is a gun-grade, latex-based elastomeric firestop sealant designed for sealing construction joints and through-penetrations in fire-rated assemblies. Ready to use with no mixing required, it cures upon atmospheric exposure to form a monolithic, flexible firestop seal. When installed in tested and listed systems, it provides up to 4-hour fire protection. The limestone-colored formulation delivers plus or minus 19% movement capability and maintains its elastomeric properties over time, making it suitable for joints subject to compression and extension. It also functions as an acoustic barrier, achieving an STC rating of 56 when tested in an STC 56-rated wall assembly.
This sealant is used in commercial and residential construction wherever fire-rated walls, floors, and ceilings require joint or penetration protection. Typical applications include sealing around pipe, conduit, cable, and duct penetrations through fire-rated assemblies, as well as perimeter and construction joints. It is installed by firestop contractors, mechanical trades, and general contractors working under International Building Code requirements. The product meets IBC and other key life safety building code requirements and supports LEED VOC environmental compliance. It also provides an optional L-Rating smoke seal capability for systems where that designation is required.
Designed for use in tested and listed firestop systems for construction joints and through-penetrations in fire-rated wall and floor assemblies meeting IBC and applicable life safety building code requirements.
Installation should be performed by qualified firestop contractors or licensed mechanical trades familiar with applicable building codes, including IBC firestop requirements. Surfaces must be clean, dry, and free of dust or loose material before applying sealant. Apply using a standard caulking gun and tool the sealant to the required depth per the listed system design. Do not thin the product or apply over wet or contaminated substrates.
