The 3M 7000057773 is a vinyl mastic insulating pad designed for electrical connection sealing and insulation in low- and medium-voltage applications up to 600 volts. The pad measures 3-1/4 inches by 4-1/2 inches and is 125 mil thick. It is built from self-fusing, rubber-based insulating compound laminated to a flexible, all-weather grade PVC backing. The construction provides conformability around irregular connection geometries, making it suitable for wrapping and padding splices, terminations, and connectors where moisture exclusion and dielectric protection are required. Licensed electricians and utility linemen are the primary installers of this product.
This pad is used in outdoor and indoor electrical installations where connections must be sealed against moisture, UV exposure, and environmental contaminants. It is rated for use with solid dielectric cable insulation and carries a temperature rating of 176 degrees F (80 degrees C). Typical applications include underground splice kits, overhead conductor connections, and industrial wiring assemblies where a conformable, self-sealing insulation layer is required at the connection point. The pad ships in an inner unit pack of 10 pads per box, with 50 pads per case.
Compatible with solid dielectric cable insulation systems rated up to 600 volts. Designed as an OEM-style insulating pad for use in electrical splice and termination assemblies requiring conformable moisture and dielectric sealing.
Installation should be performed by a licensed electrician in accordance with applicable NEC requirements. De-energize and lock out the circuit before applying or removing any insulating materials at the connection point. Wrap the pad firmly around the connection, ensuring full overlap and contact to achieve a moisture-tight seal. Do not apply to energized conductors or use on systems exceeding the 600-volt rating of this product.
