The 3M 7000049597 is a high-temperature polyester film painters tape designed for demanding masking and surface-protection applications across industrial and commercial environments. It features a silicone adhesive system rated for service from -60 degrees F to 400 degrees F, making it well-suited for processes that involve sustained heat exposure. The tape measures 1 inch wide and 72 yards long, with a thickness of 2.3 mil. Its tensile strength of 26 lb/in supports reliable performance under mechanical stress without tearing or deforming during application or removal. Licensed electricians, industrial maintenance technicians, and finishing professionals commonly specify this tape where standard acrylic or rubber-adhesive tapes fall short.
This tape is used across a broad range of industrial and trade applications. Electroplating operations rely on it to protect surfaces from chemical exposure. HVAC and electrical trades use it for insulating, tabbing, and splicing tasks where temperature resistance is required. It is also well-suited for paint masking in powder-coat or bake-finish environments, as well as for sealing, reinforcing, and flash-breaking operations. The tape removes cleanly after high-temperature masking cycles without leaving adhesive residue, which is critical in production and finishing workflows where rework is costly.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and standard-use tape for industrial masking, electroplating protection, and high-temperature paint masking operations where polyester film construction and silicone adhesive are required.
Apply to clean, dry surfaces free of oils, dust, and loose particles for best adhesion. When used in high-temperature processes such as powder coating or electroplating, confirm that the application surface and process temperatures remain within the rated range. Remove the tape promptly after the masking operation while the substrate is still warm for cleanest removal. Electrical and industrial applications should comply with applicable NEC or facility safety codes.
