The 3M 7000049016 is a double-sided, pressure-sensitive, closed-cell acrylic foam tape engineered for high-strength bonding without mechanical fasteners. At 62 mil thick, this tape conforms readily to irregular surfaces and provides reliable adhesion to high, medium, and medium-low surface energy substrates. The black PE film liner protects the adhesive during handling and is removed at installation. Licensed HVAC, construction, and industrial technicians use this tape when a permanent, load-bearing bond with vibration damping is required. UL listing 746C supports its use in applications where flammability and material performance standards apply.
This tape is suited for residential and commercial applications where bonding dissimilar materials, mounting components to panels, or sealing joints without drilling or welding is required. The closed-cell acrylic foam core provides cushioning and impact resistance alongside the adhesive bond. Each roll measures 1 inch wide by 36 yards, making it practical for continuous runs or segmented bonding applications on metal, glass, painted surfaces, and select plastics.
Designed for bonding applications on metal, glass, painted surfaces, and select plastic substrates with high to medium-low surface energy. Confirm substrate compatibility before full installation.
Surface preparation is critical — clean bonding surfaces thoroughly with isopropyl alcohol and allow to dry before applying tape. Apply firm, even pressure across the full tape length to achieve maximum adhesive contact. Allow adequate dwell time before applying load to the bond. Do not stretch or over-handle the tape during application, as this can reduce bond strength.
