The 3M 7000048379 is a red polyethylene film tape from the 3M Series 483 line, designed for color coding applications in trade and industrial environments. The tape measures 1 inch wide and 36 yards long with a 5 mil film thickness. A rubber adhesive backing delivers a firm bond to a variety of surfaces while maintaining flexibility across a wide service temperature range of -20 to 200 degrees F. With a tensile strength of 10 pounds per inch, the tape holds up under moderate mechanical stress without tearing during application or in service.
This tape is used primarily for color coding, identification, and marking tasks in HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and general industrial settings. The red color makes it easy to distinguish coded lines, zones, or components at a glance. Its polyethylene film construction resists moisture and common shop chemicals, making it suitable for both indoor utility and light-duty field use by licensed trades and maintenance technicians.
Designed as an OEM-style color coding tape suitable for use on pipes, conduit, ductwork, and equipment panels in residential and commercial trade applications where visual identification is required.
Surface should be clean, dry, and free of oil or dust before application to ensure full adhesive contact. No special tools are required for standard tape application. In HVAC and plumbing installations, follow applicable local codes for labeling and identification of piping systems and electrical conduit. Do not apply to surfaces that exceed the rated operating temperature range of 200 degrees F.
