The 3M 7000047060 is a 6-inch diameter unitized abrasive wheel built for demanding deburring, cleaning, and surface conditioning work on metal. Part of the Standard Abrasives 700 Series, it uses aluminum oxide mineral bonded into a non-woven open web construction with a medium to hard density. The result is a wheel that cuts aggressively enough for heavy-duty tasks while the open web resists loading and extends service life. Fabricators, welders, and metalworkers use it to remove punched-hole burrs, strip weld discoloration, clean heavy scale, and smooth medium-sized pits and scratches on ferrous and non-ferrous metals alike.
This wheel is well-suited to mid-sequence metalworking operations in fabrication shops, manufacturing environments, and maintenance settings. It handles stainless steel, aluminum, and other hard metals without smearing or leaving unwanted marks, because the nylon strands in the open web do not melt under heat. The 700 Series offers harder density and increased edge durability compared to 600 Series unitized wheels, making it the right choice when a more aggressive, longer-lasting wheel is needed. A center-hole arbor design attaches to a unitized wheel mandrel, sold separately.
Designed for use with a unitized wheel mandrel (sold separately) on compatible angle grinders, die grinders, and bench-mounted machines that accept center-hole unitized wheels. Suitable for ferrous and non-ferrous metal applications including stainless steel and aluminum.
Install using a matched unitized wheel mandrel rated for the wheel diameter and the tool RPM. Verify the tool RPM does not exceed the wheel's rated maximum speed before operation. Always power down and disconnect the tool from its power source before mounting or removing the wheel. Eye protection, gloves, and appropriate respiratory protection should be worn per shop safety and OSHA guidelines when operating abrasive wheels.
