The 3M 7000045978 is a Roloc TR quick-change abrasive disc designed for surface conditioning, blending, and finishing work on metal and composite materials. It measures 3 inches in diameter and uses a silicon carbide abrasive in a non-woven construction rated to 15,100 RPM. The XL-UR series non-woven design allows the disc to conform to irregular surfaces while maintaining consistent material removal at a fine grade. This disc installs on any Roloc TR-compatible right-angle die grinder or finishing tool and is commonly used by HVAC sheet metal fabricators, pipefitters, and general metal tradespeople for prep and blend work prior to inspection or coating.
This disc is suited for light deburring, surface blending, and pre-coating prep on ferrous and non-ferrous metals. The non-woven construction at density 6 provides consistent scratch patterns without loading quickly, making it practical for stainless steel, aluminum, and mild steel applications in both shop and field environments. Individual packaging makes it easy to track consumable usage on job sites or in shop inventory.
Designed for use with Roloc TR-compatible quick-change disc holders and right-angle die grinders that accept the TR-style threaded hub attachment system.
Installation requires a Roloc TR-compatible disc pad or holder mounted on a pneumatic or electric die grinder. Always confirm the tool RPM rating meets or exceeds the disc maximum before mounting. Wear appropriate eye and face protection during use, as silicon carbide abrasives generate fine particulate. Inspect the disc for tears or delamination before each use and do not exceed the rated 15,100 RPM.
