The 3M 7000045175 is a coated abrasive disc designed for medium to high pressure grinding applications where a compact disc size is required. Built on the Cubitron II 984F platform, it uses 3M Precision-Shaped Grain (PSG) technology — ceramic abrasive grains engineered to fracture into sharp points rather than dull over time. The result is faster cut rates at lower applied pressure, reduced heat generation, and longer disc life compared to conventional abrasive products. At 1.5 inches in diameter and 80 grit, this disc suits aggressive material removal on tight geometries and edge work.
This disc is engineered for use on stainless steel, cobalt chrome, and nickel alloys — heat-sensitive materials where thermal management during grinding is critical. The integrated grinding aid on the disc face actively reduces grinding temperatures, minimizing the risk of heat discoloration and metallurgical damage. Typical install scenarios include fabrication shops, aerospace component finishing, and medical device manufacturing where tight tolerances and surface integrity on difficult alloys are priorities. A licensed or trained fabricator or machinist would be the typical end user for this product.
Designed for use with Roloc-compatible right-angle grinders and disc holders accepting 1.5-inch quick-change abrasive discs. Best suited for grinding and finishing stainless steel, cobalt chrome, and nickel alloy workpieces in medium to high pressure applications.
Attach the disc to a Roloc-compatible mandrel or disc holder mounted on a right-angle grinder rated for the disc diameter and RPM. Ensure the grinder is powered off and unplugged before mounting or removing the disc. Follow applicable ANSI B11 and OSHA 1910.215 grinding safety standards, including use of appropriate eye, face, and hand protection. Do not exceed the maximum RPM rating of the disc or backing pad.
