The 3M 7000028377 is a hard-density disc backing pad designed to support quick-change abrasive discs in grinding, blending, and finishing applications. Measuring 3 inches in diameter with an M10x1.5 thread mount, this pad uses a Roloc-style Type TR / Type 3 quick-change interface for fast disc swaps without tools. It is rated to a maximum of 20,000 RPM, making it suitable for high-speed angle grinders and die grinders used in metalworking, fabrication, and surface prep. The hard backing density provides firm support for consistent stock removal and edge work. Installation and disc changes are performed by qualified tradespeople and metalworking professionals.
This backing pad is used in industrial, commercial, and job-site environments where quick-change abrasive disc systems are standard. Typical applications include weld blending, rust and scale removal, surface conditioning, and deburring on metal workpieces. The Roloc Type TR / Type 3 interface is compatible with 3M quick-change abrasive disc systems of the same diameter and mount type. It fits both right-angle grinders and straight die grinders equipped with an M10x1.5 threaded spindle.
Designed for use with 3-inch Quick-Change Type TR / Type 3 abrasive discs on grinders and die grinders with an M10x1.5 threaded spindle. Specific tool and disc compatibility should be confirmed against the tool manufacturer specifications before installation.
Installation should be performed by a qualified operator familiar with abrasive tools and power tool safety. Ensure the grinder or die grinder is fully powered off and unplugged before threading or removing the backing pad. Thread the pad securely onto the M10x1.5 spindle and verify it is tightened before attaching any abrasive disc. Never exceed the 20,000 RPM maximum speed rating, and always inspect the pad and disc for damage before each use.
