The 3M 7000001225 is an electrically conductive Z-axis transfer tape designed for precision electronic assembly and shielding applications. It uses a sensitive acrylic adhesive system that conducts current along the Z-axis only, allowing selective electrical connection between mating surfaces. The tape ships on a 58-pound polycoated kraft paper liner in a 12-inch-by-36-yard roll format. It is rated for medium temperature environments and offers high solvent resistance, making it suitable for demanding electronics manufacturing and repair settings. Electrical and electronics technicians, PCB assemblers, and EMI shielding specialists are the primary installers of this product.
Tape 9703 is used for grounded EMI and RFI shielding attachment and for interconnection of silver ink and polyester-based flexible circuits. It performs reliably at moderately high temperatures while maintaining stable electrical characteristics. This product is appropriate for both production-line assembly environments and field repair of flexible circuit substrates where both high surface energy and low surface energy bonding scenarios are present. It accommodates high HSE and low LSE substrate surfaces, broadening its range of compatible materials.
Designed for use with silver ink and polyester-based flexible circuits and grounded EMI and RFI shielding assemblies requiring Z-axis electrical interconnection.
Installation is typically performed by electronics technicians or EMI shielding specialists in assembly or field repair settings. Ensure mating surfaces are clean, dry, and free of oils or contaminants before application to achieve proper adhesive bond and stable electrical contact. Power down and discharge all circuits before applying or removing conductive tape from live assemblies. Consult applicable IPC standards for flexible circuit assembly and shielding attachment procedures.
