The 3M 7000000731 is a convolute deburring wheel built for aggressive material removal and surface finishing on metal workpieces. The wheel uses silicon carbide abrasive at a fine grade with a density rating of 8, classified as a hard grade construction. This combination delivers consistent cut and controlled surface conditioning across a range of ferrous and non-ferrous metals. At 6 inches in diameter and 1 inch face width, with a 1-inch center hole, the wheel mounts directly to standard arbors on a variety of power tools. It is rated to a maximum of 6,000 RPM. Machinists, tool-and-die technicians, and fabrication shop operators are the primary installers and users of this wheel type.
This wheel is suited for deburring, blending, and light surface conditioning in industrial fabrication and metalworking environments. Compatible tooling includes backstands, centerless grinders, die grinders, inline sanders, manual backstands, pressure assist backstands, and robotic finishing systems. The convolute construction provides uniform density throughout the wheel, which supports consistent performance as the wheel wears down over its service life. It is appropriate for both production line applications and bench finishing operations where repeatable results are required.
Designed for use with backstands, centerless grinders, die grinders, inline sanders, manual backstands, pressure assist backstands, and robotic finishing systems that accept a 6-inch diameter convolute wheel with a 1-inch center hole arbor mount.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or abrasives technician following ANSI B7.1 safety standards for abrasive wheel mounting. Always power down and de-energize the tool completely before mounting or removing the wheel. Inspect the wheel for cracks or damage before installation and never exceed the 6,000 RPM maximum speed rating marked on the wheel. Use the correct flanges and hardware for the arbor size to ensure secure seating before operation.
