The 3M 7000000694 is a Scotch-Brite EXL Unitized Abrasive Wheel designed for smoothing, deburring, and finishing metal alloys, plastics, and composites. Built with a layered, unitized construction and aluminum oxide (AO) abrasive mineral, this wheel delivers consistent cut and finish across a range of surface preparation tasks. At 3 inches in diameter with a 3/8-inch arbor hole, it mounts directly to bench grinders, die grinders, and automated finishing equipment. The soft, conformable construction keeps the abrasive in contact with irregular or complex part geometries, reducing heat buildup and minimizing smearing on finished surfaces. Licensed trade fabricators, machinists, and metal finishing technicians are the primary installers and operators.
This wheel is suited for edge deburring, light stock removal, and surface finishing on metal alloys including steel and aluminum, as well as many plastics and composites. It is appropriate for both manual bench-mounted setups and robotic or automated processing lines where consistent contact pressure and conformability are required. The unitized construction allows operation in both clockwise and counterclockwise directions, offering flexibility in multi-axis or reversible-spindle applications. It is sold individually and is available in a range of densities and grades to match cut aggressiveness to the specific application.
Designed for use on bench grinders, die grinders, and automated finishing equipment accepting a 3/8-inch arbor and accommodating a 3-inch diameter unitized abrasive wheel.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or metal finishing technician familiar with abrasive wheel mounting procedures. Ensure the spindle is fully de-energized and locked out before mounting or removing the wheel. Verify that the equipment spindle speed rating meets or exceeds the wheel's maximum rated RPM before operation. Always wear appropriate PPE including eye protection when operating abrasive wheels.
