The SUPCO SUD8358 is a combination UV dye drier and magnetic reduction filter designed for use in refrigerant systems. It performs two functions simultaneously: the XH-9 beaded desiccant core removes moisture from the refrigerant circuit, while a built-in magnetic reduction element captures microscopic steel, iron, and stainless steel particles as refrigerant circulates through the system. As the refrigerant passes through, UV dye is also introduced, enabling leak detection under UV light. The SUD8358 is rated to a maximum working pressure of 500 psi, making it compatible with a wide range of system operating conditions. HVAC technicians install this unit as part of routine maintenance or system repair procedures.
The SUD8358 is suited for residential and light commercial refrigerant systems. It can be installed on capillary tube systems or expansion valve systems. The integrated UV dye is compatible with all refrigerants and oils, including new and existing blends, eliminating the need to verify refrigerant-specific dye compatibility before installation. The magnetic filtration function helps reduce wear on compressors, metering devices, and other components by removing ferrous debris that circulates in the refrigerant stream.

100% XH-9 beaded desiccant for effective moisture control
Magnetic reduction filter captures microscopic steel, iron, and stainless steel particles
Introduces UV dye as refrigerant circulates for leak detection capability
UV dye compatible with all refrigerants and oils, new and existing
Maximum working pressure of 500 psi
Compatible with capillary tube and expansion valve systems
Compatibility
Compatible with all new and existing refrigerants and oils. Suitable for use on capillary tube systems and expansion valve systems.
Installation Notes
Installation should be performed by a licensed HVAC technician in accordance with applicable local codes and EPA Section 608 refrigerant handling regulations. Recover all refrigerant from the system before opening the refrigerant circuit for filter-drier installation. Follow the flow direction indicated on the drier body and ensure all connections are leak-tested after recharging the system. Use UV light and appropriate safety glasses after system startup to verify UV dye distribution and check for leaks.
