The SUPCO STC6377 is a thermal cutoff device used to protect electrical and heating equipment from overtemperature conditions. When a protected component reaches an unsafe temperature threshold, the thermal cutoff opens the circuit and interrupts power, preventing damage or fire. This type of one-time, non-resettable safety device is a standard component in appliances, HVAC equipment, and similar systems. Installation is typically performed by licensed HVAC technicians or appliance repair professionals.
The STC6377 is suited for applications where thermal protection is required in residential or light commercial equipment. Thermal cutoffs of this type are commonly found in heating elements, motor housings, transformer assemblies, and similar components where localized overheating is a risk. The device mounts in series with the load circuit and activates permanently upon reaching its rated trip temperature.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement thermal cutoff for residential and light commercial electrical and heating equipment applications.
A licensed technician should de-energize the equipment completely and verify zero voltage before replacing a thermal cutoff. Because the STC6377 is a non-resettable device, the underlying cause of the overtemperature condition must be diagnosed and corrected before installing the replacement. The device is wired in series with the load; follow applicable NEC guidelines for the equipment type being serviced. Do not bypass or jumper a thermal cutoff under any circumstances.
