The SOUTHLAND BUS01408 is a black malleable iron hex bushing designed to reduce a 3/4-inch female pipe thread to a 1/2-inch male pipe thread. It is a standard threaded pipe fitting used in gas, air, and water piping systems where a thread-size reduction is needed without changing the line direction. The hex body allows wrench engagement for proper torque and a leak-free assembly. At 3.5 inches in actual length, it fits into standard piping configurations in both residential and light commercial applications. Licensed plumbers, pipefitters, and gas fitters are the typical installers of this fitting.
This hex bushing is suited for low-pressure gas distribution lines, compressed air systems, and black iron plumbing assemblies. It is commonly installed at appliance connections, manifold assemblies, and branch takeoffs where a 3/4-inch supply line must transition to a 1/2-inch outlet. The malleable iron construction and black finish make it appropriate for gas service as permitted by applicable codes. It is a high-frequency stock item for plumbing and HVAC service trucks.
Designed as an OEM-style threaded fitting compatible with standard NPT black iron pipe systems in residential and light commercial gas, air, and water piping assemblies.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber, pipefitter, or gas fitter in accordance with the International Fuel Gas Code (IFGC) or International Plumbing Code (IPC) as applicable. Shut off the gas supply or depressurize the line fully before disassembly or installation. Apply an approved pipe thread sealant or PTFE tape rated for the service medium to all male threads before assembly. Pressure-test the completed assembly per local code requirements before returning the system to service.
