The SOUTHLAND 521-321HC is a black malleable iron reducing coupling designed to join two male-threaded pipes of different diameters. The larger end accepts 3/8-inch pipe and the smaller end accepts 1/4-inch pipe, making it a straightforward solution for diameter transitions in low-pressure piping systems. Weighing approximately 0.11 pounds, this compact fitting is built for use in fuel, lubricant, oil, grease, and LP gas distribution lines. Plumbers and pipefitters install this fitting in both residential and light commercial applications where a threaded reducing connection is required.
This reducing coupling is suited for non-potable fluid and gas conveyance systems. Common applications include lubricant oil lines, grease systems, LP gas distribution, and fuel transfer piping. It is not rated or approved for potable water service. The fitting is well-suited to repair, fabrication, and retrofit work where an existing line needs to step down from 3/8-inch to 1/4-inch pipe thread.
Designed as a standard NPT threaded reducing coupling for use in 3/8-inch to 1/4-inch black iron pipe assemblies in non-potable fuel, gas, and lubricant systems.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or pipefitter in accordance with applicable local codes and the IFGC for gas line work. Shut off all gas or fluid supply and relieve system pressure before removing or installing any fitting. Apply an appropriate thread sealant or PTFE tape rated for the service fluid before making up the connection. Do not use this fitting in potable water service or in systems exceeding the pressure rating of standard black malleable iron fittings.
