The SOUTHLAND 511-921HN is a galvanized steel hex bushing designed to reduce a 3/8-inch pipe connection down to a 1/4-inch pipe connection. The hex body provides a flat wrench surface for secure installation and proper torque. Galvanization adds a zinc coating that resists rust and corrosion, extending service life in both wet and dry environments. This fitting weighs approximately 0.07 pounds and is sold individually. Plumbers, pipefitters, and experienced DIYers install this type of fitting when transitioning between two different threaded pipe sizes within the same run.
This bushing is suited for residential and light commercial applications including potable water supply lines, compressed air distribution systems, and general drainage configurations. The threaded hex bushing fits directly into a female-threaded fitting or valve port, accepting a smaller male-threaded pipe or fitting on the outlet end. It is a standard choice whenever a single inline reducer is needed without adding significant length to the assembly.
Designed as a standard threaded hex bushing for use in 3/8-inch to 1/4-inch NPT pipe reduction applications in residential and light commercial plumbing and compressed air systems.
Installation is performed by licensed plumbers or qualified pipefitters in accordance with applicable local plumbing codes. Shut off the water supply or depressurize the air line completely before beginning work. Apply thread sealant tape or pipe compound to the male threads before installation to ensure a leak-free joint. Do not over-tighten; use the hex flats and a properly sized wrench to seat the fitting without stressing the receiving port.
