The MSA Safety 711062 is a disposable calibration gas cylinder containing a precise mixture of hydrogen sulfide at 40 ppm in a nitrogen balance gas. Calibration gas is used with compatible portable gas detectors to verify sensor response and adjust detector output to a known concentration. The cylinder holds 34 liters at a maximum operating pressure of 500 psi and is manufactured from aluminum. Accuracy is plus or minus 10 percent. The mixture is NIST traceable and produced under ISO 17025, ISO 17034, and ISO 9001 quality standards, making it suitable for regulated industrial hygiene and confined space entry programs.
This calibration gas is intended for use with portable gas detectors in industrial, commercial, and confined space monitoring applications. Hydrogen sulfide detection is critical in environments such as oil and gas facilities, wastewater treatment plants, pulp and paper mills, and any site where H2S exposure risk exists. The 34-liter disposable cylinder is well suited for field calibration routines where a refillable cylinder is not practical. The cylinder outlet uses an RP connection type for compatibility with standard calibration equipment.

Calibration gas cylinders are handled by industrial hygienists, safety technicians, and qualified gas detection service personnel. Before connecting the cylinder, verify the detector is in a clean-air environment and that the regulator or adapter matches the RP outlet connection. Follow the gas detector manufacturer's bump test and calibration procedures as specified in the instrument manual. Store and transport the cylinder upright in a well-ventilated area away from heat sources, and dispose of empty cylinders according to applicable local regulations.
