The MSA SAFETY 10199013 is a V-SERIES leading edge safety lanyard designed for fall protection in environments where sharp or abrasive edges are a primary hazard. Built with a high heat cable construction, this twin-leg lanyard provides dual-leg versatility for 100 percent tie-off compliance on steel, precast concrete, and other leading edge work surfaces. The fixed-length design spans 6 feet and is rated for a maximum capacity of 310 pounds. Small snaphooks are fitted on both legs for connection to compatible anchor points and harness dorsal rings. Licensed fall protection professionals and competent persons overseeing elevated work tasks are the primary installers and users of this equipment.
This lanyard is suited for steel erection, precast concrete work, roofing, and other leading edge applications where conventional shock-absorbing lanyards may not perform reliably due to cable shear risk. The twin-leg configuration supports continuous attachment when transitioning between anchor points. The high heat cable core is selected for jobs involving welding, hot work zones, or surfaces that generate elevated ambient temperatures. It is appropriate for use in both residential and commercial construction environments where leading edge fall hazards are present.
Designed as a leading edge replacement lanyard for use with full-body fall protection harnesses in applications requiring twin-leg, fixed-length cable lanyards rated for leading edge conditions.
Installation and inspection of this lanyard must be performed by a competent person as defined under OSHA 29 CFR 1926 Subpart M fall protection standards. Before connecting, verify that all snaphooks are fully engaged and self-locking gates are closed on both the harness dorsal D-ring and the anchor point. Calculate fall clearance carefully when using a fixed-length lanyard to confirm no contact with a lower level occurs in a fall event. Remove the lanyard from service immediately if it has been subjected to a fall arrest load or shows visible signs of damage, kinking, or deformation.
