The EWC CONTROLS ESID-8 is an 8-inch round motorized slip-in damper engineered for retrofit HVAC zoning applications. The damper installs by sliding into a 1.25-inch slot cut into existing round ductwork, making it compatible with installations where full duct replacement is not practical. It features a double-layered blade with an integrated cellular foam sealing gasket for low-leakage performance, rated at less than 5% leakage at static pressures up to 1 inch w.c. The 24-volt AC, 3-wire actuator is UL Listed, power-open and power-close, and rated at 18 inch-pounds of torque. Licensed HVAC technicians and sheet metal contractors are the typical installers.
The ESID-8 is suited for residential and light commercial zoning systems where existing round duct must be retrofitted with motorized dampers to control airflow to individual zones or areas. The adjustable end-stop feature allows technicians to set minimum and maximum blade positions to dial in design CFM for a specific zone without replacing the duct section. The motor housing is NEMA 1 rated, and the actuator includes an integrated terminal block for straightforward low-voltage field wiring.
Designed for retrofit installation in 8-inch round duct systems used in residential and light commercial HVAC zoning applications.
Installation should be performed by a licensed HVAC technician or qualified sheet metal contractor. Shut off the air handler or furnace and de-energize the low-voltage control circuit at the transformer before cutting the duct slot or making wiring connections. A 1.25-inch slot is required in the round duct to accept the damper blade — use appropriate sheet metal tools and follow local mechanical codes. Confirm actuator wiring at the integrated terminal block matches the zone control board wiring scheme before restoring power.
