The EWC CONTROLS ESID-6 is a 6-inch round motorized slip-in damper engineered for retrofit HVAC zoning applications. It installs by sliding into a 1.25-inch slot cut into an existing round duct, eliminating the need to remove or replace duct sections. The double-layered blade design incorporates an integrated cellular foam sealing gasket, keeping leakage below 5 percent at static pressures up to 1 inch w.c. The 24-volt AC, 3-wire actuator operates as a power-open and power-close type, rated at 18 inch-pounds of torque. Licensed HVAC technicians and sheet metal contractors are the primary installers for this component in residential and light commercial zoning systems.
The ESID-6 is suited for retrofit zoning installations where existing round ductwork is being divided into independently controlled zones. The slip-in design allows field installation without major duct modification. The motor housing is NEMA 1 rated and includes an integrated terminal block for simplified low-voltage wiring. Adjustable end-stops allow technicians to set minimum and maximum blade positions, enabling precise CFM balancing for each zone or area served. The motor can be oriented at any angle around the duct circumference to accommodate tight mechanical room conditions.

Installation is performed by a licensed HVAC technician or qualified sheet metal contractor. Shut down the air handler and de-energize the low-voltage control circuit at the transformer before cutting the duct slot or making wiring connections. A 1.25-inch slot must be field-cut cleanly around the full circumference of the round duct to accept the damper blade. Low-voltage wiring should comply with NEC Article 725 Class 2 circuit requirements for 24-volt control wiring.
