The EWC CONTROLS ESID-4 is a 4-inch round motorized slip-in damper built for retrofit HVAC zoning applications. The damper slides into a 1.25-inch slot cut into existing round ductwork, making it a practical solution for adding zone control without major duct modification. A double-layered blade with an integrated cellular foam sealing gasket keeps leakage below 5 percent at static pressures up to 1 inch w.c. The UL Listed 24-volt AC actuator is a 3-wire, power-open and power-close type rated at 18 inch-pounds of torque. A 5-year warranty covers the assembly. Licensed HVAC technicians and zoning contractors are the typical installers.
The ESID-4 is intended for residential and light commercial round duct systems where existing ductwork requires zone damper retrofitting without full duct replacement. It is suited for air quality and comfort zoning projects where precise airflow control into individual zones or areas is required. The adjustable End-Stops allow the installer to set minimum and maximum blade positions, enabling design CFM tuning for each zone without additional balancing hardware. The motor can be oriented at any angle around the duct, giving flexibility in tight mechanical spaces.
Designed as an OEM-style retrofit damper for 4-inch round duct systems in residential and light commercial HVAC zoning installations.
Installation is performed by licensed HVAC technicians. Power down the air handler and de-energize the zone control panel before cutting the duct slot or making wiring connections. A 1.25-inch slot must be cut cleanly and squarely into the existing round duct to allow proper blade seating and gasket seal. Wire the 24-volt AC actuator per the zone controller manufacturer's wiring diagram and verify End-Stop positions before restoring system power.
