The EWC CONTROLS ECPLS is a coil protection lockout switch designed to safeguard HVAC system coils from damage caused by operating under low-temperature conditions. When coil temperatures drop to a set threshold, the switch interrupts the circuit to prevent freeze-up and related equipment damage. Rated at 15 amps and electrically powered, this device is a compact, field-installed control component measuring 4 inches in width and 2 inches in height. It is typically installed by licensed HVAC technicians as part of a zone control or air handler system where coil protection is a priority.
The ECPLS is suited for residential and light commercial HVAC applications where freeze protection of evaporator or cooling coils is required. It is commonly installed in forced-air systems, zone control setups, and air handler units subject to low-temperature operating conditions. The switch provides an automatic lockout function that removes the call for cooling or fan operation when coil temperatures fall to unsafe levels, protecting the system from ice buildup and potential coil damage.
Designed as an OEM-style coil protection lockout switch for residential and light commercial forced-air HVAC systems and zone control applications where evaporator coil freeze protection is required.
Installation should be performed by a licensed HVAC technician. Disconnect and lock out all power to the air handler or HVAC system before beginning installation. Position the switch in direct contact with or in close proximity to the evaporator coil surface as required for accurate temperature sensing. Follow all applicable local codes and manufacturer wiring diagrams when integrating this switch into the system control circuit.
