The EWC CONTROLS ECLBD-16 is a constant load bypass damper designed to regulate static pressure automatically in forced-air HVAC zoning systems. Unlike a fixed manual bypass damper, the ECLBD-16 allows the installer to dial in a target static pressure using a simple setscrew adjustment, eliminating guesswork during setup. The damper is adjustable from 0.3 inches WC up to 0.8 inches WC. A static pressure indicator window displays the current adjustment, and a blade indicator viewing window lets the technician monitor blade position during live system operation. Rated for airflow up to 2200 CFM through a 16-inch opening.
The ECLBD-16 is used in residential and light commercial zoning applications where variable air volume zones create excess static pressure that must be relieved to protect the air handler and ductwork. It installs directly into the bypass duct connecting the supply plenum to the return side of the system. The damper can be mounted at any angle and in any orientation, which simplifies installation in tight or unconventional mechanical spaces. HVAC technicians installing multi-zone systems with motorized dampers will find this particularly useful for maintaining system balance without manual recalibration.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation bypass damper for forced-air HVAC zoning systems using 16-inch round bypass duct connections.
Installation is performed by a licensed HVAC technician. Power down the air handler and all zone control equipment before connecting or adjusting the damper. The unit can be mounted in any position, but secure it so the indicator windows remain visible for future inspection and adjustment. Set the static pressure setscrew to the desired operating point after all zone dampers and controls are commissioned, verifying system balance before returning the system to service.
