The DAKOTA SOURCING 12653 is a 3/8 inch lead-free flare cap used to seal open flare fittings in gas and refrigeration piping systems. This cap threads onto a standard 3/8 inch flare fitting to close off unused ports, capped service lines, or temporarily isolated sections of tubing. The lead-free construction meets drinking water and potable system requirements where applicable. Licensed plumbers, HVAC technicians, and refrigeration mechanics install this fitting as part of routine service, system decommissioning, or staged installation work.
The 12653 flare cap is suited for residential and light commercial applications involving copper tubing with a 3/8 inch flare connection. Typical use cases include capping refrigerant service ports, natural gas or propane branch lines, and water supply fittings during phased construction or system isolation. It is appropriate wherever a leak-free mechanical seal on a flare-end tube is required without soldering or brazing.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and service fitting for standard 3/8 inch flare connections in residential and light commercial plumbing, HVAC, and refrigeration piping systems.
Installation is performed by a licensed plumber or HVAC technician. Shut off the gas, refrigerant, or water supply and relieve system pressure before removing or installing any flare fitting. Use an appropriately sized flare wrench to tighten the cap to the fitting without over-torquing the flare seat. Follow applicable local codes and IFGC or IPC requirements for the system type being serviced.
