The B K/MUELLER INDS(IMPORT) 561-040HN is a galvanized steel pipe nipple sized at 1/4 inch nominal diameter by 4 inches in length. Pipe nipples are short sections of externally threaded pipe used to join fittings, valves, and other piping components. The hot-dip galvanized coating provides corrosion resistance suitable for water supply, compressed air, and general industrial piping applications. Plumbers and pipefitters install these as close nipples, extension pieces, or connector stubs in threaded piping assemblies. This SKU is packaged in a quantity of 10 units, making it well suited for service vehicles and job-site supply.
This galvanized nipple is used in residential and light commercial plumbing systems, as well as industrial compressed air and gas distribution lines where threaded steel pipe is specified. Typical applications include connecting gate valves, ball valves, unions, and tees in water supply or drain-waste-vent rough-in work. The 4-inch length provides enough thread exposure on both ends while adding a short run of pipe between fittings. Galvanized nipples are a standard inventory item for plumbing contractors, mechanical rooms, and maintenance facilities.
Designed as a standard NPT threaded replacement or new-installation nipple for use with any 1/4 inch threaded piping components following NPT thread standards in residential and commercial plumbing and mechanical systems.
Galvanized pipe nipples are installed by licensed plumbers or pipefitters following applicable IPC or local mechanical code requirements. Shut off and depressurize the supply line before removing or installing threaded pipe components. Apply an appropriate thread sealant or PTFE tape to the male threads before assembly, and hand-tighten before using a pipe wrench to achieve a leak-free joint. Do not over-tighten, as this can crack fittings or distort threads on smaller diameter pipe.
