The B K/MUELLER INDS(IMPORT) 511-321HC is a galvanized reducing coupling designed to connect pipes of two different diameters within a threaded pipe assembly. It transitions from a 3/8-inch female thread on one end to a 1/4-inch female thread on the other, allowing a reduction in line size without additional fittings. The galvanized steel construction provides corrosion resistance suited to general plumbing, HVAC piping, and light industrial applications. Plumbers and pipefitters install this coupling as a standard component in threaded iron or steel pipe systems.
This reducing coupling is used in residential and commercial plumbing and mechanical systems where a threaded pipe run requires a step-down in size. Typical applications include water supply lines, gas distribution piping, compressed air systems, and HVAC hydronic or steam piping. It is sold in a package quantity of 30 units, making it practical for contractors stocking multiple fittings for a job or service van inventory.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or standard trade fitting for threaded steel pipe systems using NPT connections in residential and commercial plumbing or mechanical piping applications.
Installation is performed by licensed plumbers or pipefitters working with threaded iron or steel pipe systems. Shut off the water, gas, or compressed air supply and depressurize the line before removing any existing fitting. Apply thread sealant tape or pipe compound to the male threads before assembly, and tighten with a pipe wrench to the appropriate engagement depth per IPC or IFGC guidelines. Do not overtighten, as this can crack or deform the fitting.
