The B K/MUELLER INDS(IMPORT) 568-045HC is a galvanized steel pipe nipple measuring 2 inches in diameter by 4.5 inches in length. Pipe nipples are short lengths of threaded pipe used to connect fittings, valves, and other components within a piping system. This nipple carries a hot-dip or mill galvanized coating that resists corrosion in wet or exposed service environments. Plumbers and pipefitters install these in residential and commercial water distribution, gas distribution (where locally approved), and general mechanical piping systems. The part is sold in a package quantity of five, making it efficient for multi-point installations or service van stocking.
This nipple is suited for use in residential water supply lines, commercial plumbing rough-in, and industrial piping where a short close-or-run nipple is needed between threaded fittings. Typical applications include connecting gate valves, ball valves, unions, and tees in above-ground or exposed indoor piping runs. The galvanized finish makes it appropriate for wet locations where bare black iron would be prone to surface rust. It is commonly used by licensed plumbers, pipefitters, and mechanical contractors working under IPC or local plumbing code requirements.
Designed as a standard replacement or new-installation pipe nipple compatible with 2-inch NPT threaded fittings, valves, and couplings in residential and commercial plumbing and mechanical piping systems.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or qualified pipefitter in accordance with applicable IPC or local plumbing codes. Shut off and depressurize the water or gas supply before removing or installing any threaded pipe component. Apply an approved thread sealant or PTFE tape to the male threads before assembly to ensure a leak-free joint. Do not overtighten threaded connections, as this can crack fittings or distort threads.
