The B K Mueller Industries 520-154HN is a 90-degree black reducing elbow designed for joining pipe runs where a directional change and a reduction in pipe size occur at the same fitting. The elbow transitions from a 1-inch inlet to a 3/4-inch outlet and is finished in black, which is standard for gas distribution piping in residential and light commercial applications. Plumbers and gas fitters install this type of fitting to route natural gas or propane lines through walls, floors, and mechanical rooms where space constraints or system layout require a combined turn-and-reduce in a single component. Each package contains 5 fittings.
This reducing elbow is suited for use in threaded black iron pipe systems, commonly found in residential gas supply lines, commercial kitchen gas rough-ins, and mechanical room distribution manifolds. The 90-degree geometry makes it a standard choice when running branch lines off a main gas trunk or redirecting supply lines around structural framing. It is installed by licensed plumbers and gas fitters working under applicable fuel-gas codes.
Designed as an OEM-style threaded replacement or new-installation fitting for black iron gas pipe systems using standard NPT threads in 1-inch and 3/4-inch pipe sizes.
Installation must be performed by a licensed plumber or gas fitter in accordance with the International Fuel Gas Code (IFGC) and all applicable local codes. Shut off the gas supply and verify zero pressure at the line before beginning any fitting work. Apply an approved pipe thread sealant or PTFE tape rated for gas service to all male threads before assembly. Pressure-test the completed assembly per code requirements before returning the system to service.
