The B K/MUELLER INDS(IMPORT) 511-910HC is a galvanized hex bushing designed to reduce a 1/4-inch female fitting down to a 1/8-inch male thread. Hex bushings of this type are threaded pipe fittings used to join two pipes or fittings of different sizes within a single inline connection. The galvanized steel construction provides corrosion resistance suited for water supply, gas distribution, and general plumbing applications. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters install these as standard reducing fittings in both residential and light commercial systems. This package contains 35 pieces, making it a practical supply for job stocking or shop inventory.
This hex bushing is appropriate for use in residential and commercial plumbing, HVAC piping, and compressed air or gas line assemblies where a threaded reducing connection is required. The 1/4-inch to 1/8-inch reduction is a common size pairing found at branch takeoffs, instrumentation ports, pressure gauge connections, and drip leg assemblies on gas appliances. Galvanized fittings are well suited for dry or low-moisture environments and are a standard choice when connecting to galvanized pipe systems.
Designed as a standard threaded reducing bushing compatible with NPT-threaded pipe systems using 1/4-inch and 1/8-inch connections in galvanized plumbing and gas piping assemblies.
Installation is performed by licensed plumbers or qualified pipefitters in accordance with applicable local plumbing codes and the International Plumbing Code or International Fuel Gas Code where relevant. Shut off the water supply or gas service and depressurize the line before beginning work. Apply appropriate thread sealant or PTFE tape to the male threads before assembly. Do not over-tighten; use a pipe wrench on the hex body and avoid applying torque to adjacent fittings or valves.
