The B K Mueller Industries 511-376HN is a galvanized reducing coupling designed to connect pipes of two different diameters in threaded plumbing and mechanical piping systems. It transitions from a 1.5-inch female thread on one end to a 1.25-inch female thread on the other, allowing a controlled reduction in line size without additional fittings. The galvanized steel construction resists corrosion in wet service environments, making it appropriate for water supply, drain, and general mechanical piping applications. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters are the typical installers of this fitting type.
This reducing coupling is suited for residential and light commercial plumbing systems where a threaded pipe size reduction is required in-line. Typical install scenarios include branch takeoffs, fixture supply drops, and mechanical room piping where two different nominal pipe sizes must be joined. The fitting ships in a package quantity of three units, making it practical for jobs requiring multiple reductions at the same size transition.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation fitting for standard NPT threaded galvanized steel piping systems requiring a 1.5-inch to 1.25-inch reducing connection.
Installation is performed by a licensed plumber or pipefitter following applicable IPC and local plumbing code requirements. Shut off and depressurize the supply line completely before removing any existing fitting or making new connections. Apply an appropriate thread sealant or PTFE tape to the male threads before assembly. Do not overtighten threaded fittings, as this can crack the fitting or damage threads.
