The B K/MUELLER INDS(IMPORT) 511-310HC is a galvanized reducing coupling used to connect pipe sections of two different sizes in threaded piping systems. It provides a secure, corrosion-resistant joint between a 1/4-inch pipe and a 1/8-inch pipe. The galvanized finish adds a layer of zinc coating that resists rust in wet or humid environments. This fitting is a standard component in plumbing, HVAC, and light industrial piping systems where reducing connections are needed at small-diameter pipe runs. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters install this type of fitting during rough-in and service work.
The 511-310HC is suited for residential and light commercial applications involving small-diameter threaded pipe. Common uses include gas line branch connections, water supply lines, compressed air distribution, and HVAC refrigerant or condensate piping where a step-down from 1/4-inch to 1/8-inch is required. This fitting is sold in a package quantity of 25 units, making it practical for contractors stocking supplies for multiple jobs or service calls.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and standard-stock fitting for threaded galvanized pipe systems using 1/4-inch and 1/8-inch nominal pipe sizes.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or pipefitter in accordance with applicable local plumbing codes and IFGC or IPC requirements where relevant. Shut off the water, gas, or air supply and depressurize the line completely before beginning work. Apply an approved thread sealant or PTFE tape to the male threads before assembly. Do not over-tighten threaded fittings, as this can crack the fitting or distort the threads.
