The ABB INSTALLATION PRODUCTS xc 290 is a clamp-type connector designed to connect and bond 3/8-inch armored cable (AC) or flexible metallic conduit (FMC) to a 1/2-inch knockout in a box or enclosure. Built with a 90-degree bend, this connector is suited for installations where conduit must make a right-angle turn at the entry point of an enclosure. The zinc die cast construction provides the mechanical strength and conductivity needed for reliable bonding in electrical installations. Licensed electricians and electrical contractors are the primary installers of this fitting.
This connector is used in residential and light commercial electrical installations where armored cable or flexible metallic conduit terminates at junction boxes, outlet boxes, or other enclosures. The 90-degree angle body makes it particularly useful in tight spaces or panel installations where a straight connector would require excessive bend radius in the conduit or cable. It fits a standard 1/2-inch knockout, which is common across a wide range of electrical enclosures and boxes.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement fitting for use with 3/8-inch armored cable or flexible metallic conduit terminating at 1/2-inch knockouts in standard electrical boxes and enclosures.
Installation should be performed by a licensed electrician in accordance with applicable NEC requirements for armored cable and flexible metallic conduit terminations. De-energize the circuit and verify the absence of voltage before working inside any box or enclosure. Secure the connector locknut firmly to ensure proper bonding continuity. Do not overtighten the clamp screw to the point of damaging the cable armor or conduit jacket.
