The ABB INSTALLATION PRODUCTS sh-107 is a clamp-on service entrance head designed to protect and redirect electrical service conductors as they exit conduit at the weatherhead location. Commonly called a service cap or raintight head, this fitting mounts to 2.5-inch conduit without threading, securing with a clamp mechanism for fast field installation. Constructed of aluminum, the sh-107 resists corrosion in outdoor service entrance applications. It features 7 conductor holes in three sizes: 7/8 inch, 1 inch, and 1-5/16 inch, allowing routing of multiple service conductors cleanly through the cap. Licensed electricians install this fitting as part of the overhead service entrance assembly on residential and light commercial structures.
The sh-107 is suited for use with EMT, rigid metal conduit, and IMC conduit systems at the service entrance point. It is typically installed at the top of a service mast where the utility drop connects to the customer conductors. The clamp-on design makes it compatible with both new construction and retrofit service entrance work where threading the conduit is impractical. This fitting is appropriate for residential metering installations and light commercial service entrance applications requiring a dependable weatherhead fitting.
Designed for use with 2.5-inch EMT, rigid metal conduit, and IMC conduit systems in service entrance applications.
Service entrance heads are installed by licensed electricians in accordance with NEC Article 230 governing services. De-energize and coordinate with the local utility before working on or near service entrance conductors, as the utility drop remains energized until the utility disconnects it. Secure the clamp mechanism firmly to the conduit to prevent movement from wind or conductor tension. Inspect the fitting for proper conductor routing to ensure the weatherhead opening faces downward to shed water away from the conduit.
