The ABB INSTALLATION PRODUCTS B355R is a 3-gang old work electrical box designed for retrofit installations in existing walls where access to the wall cavity is limited. With an interior volume of 55 cubic inches, the B355R provides ample space for larger wiring devices including GFCI receptacles and oversized dimmers. The box measures 5.72 inches wide by 2.79 inches tall by 3.69 inches deep and is constructed from non-metallic, non-conductive, non-corrosive material. Weighing approximately 2.98 pounds per package of six, the individual units are lightweight, making handling and positioning easier during install. Eight mounting ears secure the box firmly against the drywall face after insertion through the cutout.
This box is suited for residential and light commercial wiring projects where an electrician needs to add or relocate outlet, switch, or device locations without opening the wall cavity. The large 55 CUIN capacity makes it especially practical in remodel work where triple-gang device configurations include wide-body devices such as GFCI receptacles, large dimmers, or combination switch-outlet units. The non-metallic construction eliminates grounding continuity concerns associated with plastic boxes in standard NEC applications and resists corrosion in humid interior environments.
Designed as an OEM-style old work replacement and new-install box compatible with standard 3-gang wiring devices including GFCI receptacles, large dimmers, and similar devices requiring a deep non-metallic enclosure.
Installation is performed by a licensed electrician in accordance with the National Electrical Code (NEC). Always de-energize the circuit at the breaker panel and verify absence of voltage with a meter before cutting into the wall or pulling conductors. Trace the cutout dimensions carefully on the drywall surface before cutting to ensure a snug fit for the mounting ears. Tighten all mounting ear screws until the box seats flush and firm against the interior wall surface without cracking the drywall face.
