The ABB INSTALLATION PRODUCTS B120A-UPC is a single-gang new-work switch and outlet box designed for electrical rough-in installations in residential and light commercial construction. Made from blue PVC, this box measures 3-7/8 inches by 2-1/4 inches by 3-1/4 inches deep and provides 20 cubic inches (CUIN) of wiring volume. It ships with captive nails for fast stud mounting, built-in leveling guides for accurate placement, and four knockouts — two at each end — to accommodate a variety of conduit and cable entry configurations. Licensed electricians install this box during the framing stage before drywall is applied.
This box is suited for new construction framing in wood-stud walls where a standard single-gang device opening is required. Typical applications include switch, receptacle, and GFCI outlet installations in residential homes, apartments, and light commercial tenant improvements. The PVC material is well suited for environments where non-metallic wiring methods such as NM cable are used. The captive nails allow direct attachment to wood studs without additional hardware, making it a fast-install option for production framing and electrical rough-in work.
Designed as an OEM-style new-work box for single-gang device installations in standard wood-stud wall framing using non-metallic wiring methods.
Installation is performed by a licensed electrician during the rough-in phase before drywall is hung. De-energize the circuit and verify zero voltage at the work area before making any wiring connections. Nail the box to the stud face at the correct height using the captive nails, and use the leveling guides to confirm plumb positioning. Follow NEC box-fill requirements to ensure the 20 CUIN capacity is not exceeded by conductors, devices, and fittings.
