The ZOELLER ZOEL-10-0705 is a piggyback variable level float switch designed to convert a non-automatic sump or effluent pump into a fully automatic unit. It plugs directly in line between the pump power cord and the outlet, requiring no hardwiring. Rated at 115 volts and 13 amps, it handles standard residential pump loads. The normally open configuration means the switch closes when the float rises with water level, triggering the pump to run and then shutting it off as the level drops. The 20-foot cord provides flexibility for a wide range of sump pit depths and basin configurations.
This float switch is suited for residential and light commercial pump installations where the existing pump lacks a built-in automatic shutoff. Common applications include sump pits, sewage basins, and effluent systems where a submersible pump needs automatic level-based on and off cycling. The piggyback plug design makes installation straightforward without panel modifications or additional wiring expertise. Maximum operating temperature is 140 degrees F, keeping it compatible with standard groundwater and effluent conditions.
Designed as an OEM-style accessory replacement for use with standard 115-volt non-automatic submersible pumps in residential sump and effluent applications.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or qualified pump technician. Disconnect power to the pump circuit at the breaker before handling any wiring or plugs. Plug the float switch piggyback cord into the outlet first, then plug the pump cord into the float switch outlet, and verify the float hangs freely at the correct activation depth. Ensure the installation complies with local plumbing codes and NEC requirements for wet location electrical connections.
