The YELLOW JACKET 60291 is a replacement flaring cone designed for use with the Yellow Jacket 60290 Large Flaring Tool. It handles outside diameter tubing from 3/4 inch to 1-1/8 inches and is built for soft or annealed copper tubing as well as similar malleable materials. The multi-faceted burnishing cone geometry produces a burnished flare seat, which creates a positive, leak-resistant seal at the flare joint. HVAC technicians and refrigeration mechanics rely on this cone when flaring larger-diameter refrigerant lines where a clean, consistent seat is critical to system integrity.
This flaring cone is intended for applications involving larger OD copper tubing commonly found in commercial refrigeration, large residential and light commercial HVAC systems, and hydronic piping. It is used during field installation or service work wherever a mechanical flare connection is required on 3/4 inch through 1-1/8 inch OD tubing. The burnishing action improves seat surface quality compared to standard cone designs, making it well suited for high-side refrigerant connections and other joints where a reliable seal is essential.
Designed for use with the Yellow Jacket 60290 Large Flaring Tool. Suitable for flaring soft or annealed copper tubing and similar materials with outside diameters from 3/4 inch to 1-1/8 inches.
Installation of this flaring cone and use of the flaring tool should be performed by a qualified HVAC technician or refrigeration mechanic. Before making any flare connections on a refrigerant system, recover all refrigerant and relieve system pressure in accordance with EPA Section 608 requirements and local codes. Ensure tubing is properly deburred and cut square before flaring to achieve a leak-free seat. Do not attempt to flare hard-drawn or non-annealed tubing, as this can crack the flare and result in joint failure.
