The YAKTRAX 08605 is a spikeless, slip-on ice traction cleat designed to improve stability and reduce the risk of falls on packed snow and ice. Built around a patented skid-lock coil system, it wraps the underside of standard footwear with high-strength steel coils that deliver 360 degrees of traction contact. The polyelastomer webbing stretches to fit over most shoe and boot profiles, returns to its original shape after removal, and stays pliable in extreme cold — rated brittle-resistant down to -41 degrees F. The steel coils incorporate 70 percent recycled content; the polyelastomer webbing incorporates 20 percent recycled content. Sold as a pair.
The 08605 is intended for pedestrian use on icy parking lots, driveways, and sidewalks in residential, commercial, and institutional settings. It suits a wide range of users including general pedestrians, outdoor workers, delivery personnel, children, and elderly individuals who require dependable footing in winter conditions. Because no spikes are involved, it transitions reasonably between outdoor ice and indoor hard-surface areas without the damage concern associated with metal-studded cleats. It is not rated for technical ice climbing, ladder use, or vehicle-mounted applications.
Designed as an over-shoe traction cleat for standard adult footwear in the large size range; intended to fit over most common shoe and boot profiles where the polyelastomer webbing can stretch securely around the sole perimeter.
No tools are required for installation. Stretch the polyelastomer frame over the toe of the shoe first, then pull the rear strap over the heel until the cleat sits flat against the full length of the sole. Confirm the steel coils are evenly distributed across the forefoot and heel contact zones before walking. Remove the cleats before extended walking on bare concrete, tile, or other hard interior surfaces to preserve both the coils and the floor finish.
